Bensley's Newest Unit - Medic 526
CHESTER, Virginia – November 18, 2006 – With support from the the John Randolph Foundation, BBVRS today took delivery of the newest unit in their eight unit fleet, Medic 526.
"With between 5,000 and 6,000 calls for service each year, our units quickly rack up the miles," said Gary Frame, President of BBVRS. "We carefully maintain our vehicles and extend their life by using a second chassis, so when it comes time to see a new unit in service we know it's one we will have for a while."
The new Medic 526 is a 2006 Ford E-450 Superduty 4x2 chassis with a Road Rescue 'CE' Ultramedic III 168"L x 96" Type III Walk-Through Module purchased through J&J Emergency Vehicles Sales of New Hope, Virginia. It replaces a unit with more than 90,000 miles on its second chassis -- meaning the module of the ambulance has seen nearly 200,000 miles of use!
"John Randolph Foundation has been a valued funding partner in our effort to keep providing free ambulance services to our community. In purchasing this unit with grant money from them, we are allowed to keep our promise to the community of offering free pre-hospital emergency medical care," added Frame.
